AEPJP and Afamour present a guide with 12 good practices for creating playgrounds and training areas in green spaces

More than a hundred people have attended this 11 February, via online, presentation of a guide with 12 good practices for creating playgrounds and training areas, prepared by Afamour and AEPJP.

Through a discussion table, different professionals have been able to know the main points of this document. From their different perspectives and experiences, everyone agreed that this document is an opportunity to promote children's spaces where children are prioritized and their right to safe play, Efficient, sustainable and accessible. In addition to satisfying all citizens, putting users at the center of the design.

Highlighted the reflection of Mercedes Rodés, who states that "she is a living guide, where we can collect recommendations, improvements and adapting it, according to the apprenticeships and success stories of numerous cities".

Children need playgrounds where they can socialize with others, have fun and let your imagination run wild. The managers of these spaces should take into account the little ones, but also the older ones who make use of sports equipment, putting all users at the center of development.

However, the technical professionals in charge do not always have experience and are not aware of the wide range of variants and factors that influence the result and final quality of such an area.

In this line, the Spanish Association of Parks and Public Gardens (Aepjp) together with the Spanish Association of Manufacturers of Urban Furniture and Children's Parks (AFAMOUR), have produced the document entitled "12 Good Practices. Recommendations for success in creating a playground and training area".

A guide that was presented this Thursday 11 February in online format, where Mercedes Rodés, AFAMOUR board member and coordinator in drafting the document, has released the twelve chapters on the subjects of location and environment, Accessibility, Comfort, Elements, safety pavements, the value of the park, materials, en-application regulations, Installation, Maintenance, recruitment and billing procedures.

Francisco Bergua, president of the AEPJP, stressed that "this document will be of extraordinary use to technicians and institutions dedicated to the management of these spaces".

On the other hand, Look at Jimenez, president of AFAMOUR, it has also expressed its joy with the preparation of the document "this guide will help us achieve the objective of creating leisure areas of value, constituted as a service for citizens and that do not lose sight of the child's right to play, values that un bring us all together".

The debate talk has also had the voice of Adolfo Merino's experience, Madrid City Council's Environment and Mobility Governance Area, who has stressed the importance of "a document that can serve as a guide for all municipal technicians, also contemplate the different series of conditioners that put the user in the center".

Toni Navarro, Directorate of Technical Services and Planning of barcelona City Council, has also participated in the debate, erating that "the game is not just equipment, it's a children's right that needs to be understood, from management, cross-cuttingly, laying safety and accessibility as cornerstones".

From Enrique Huelves's perspective, Responsible for the Technical Office of Parks and Gardens of the City of Murcia, indicated that "the management of children's areas has undergone a very large evolution over the last few years, improving in accessibility, safety and the pedagogical element".

The talk has been energized by Imma Marín, President of the IPA Association Spain, who has concluded that "we have many opportunities for improvement, but we're on the right track, there are a lot of initiatives from the associations, Administration, companies, Manufacturers, and all of them are aimed at achieving spaces designed in the enjoyment of children and improving the opportunities of their game".
